This is the standard backup system.  A single battery powered backup pump is added to provide backup capability when the primary pump fails or there is a power failure.  One maintenance free battery is included with the system installation.  A powerful battery charger is used so the backup pump can run continuously if power is available without depleting the battery.  Single failure points still exist in this system at the common discharge line.  It is also possible for a substantial storm to exceed the pumping capacity.

Key Benefits

bulletAdds backup capability for a loss of power or primary pump failure
bulletSounds alarm to notify you of system activation
bulletSounds alarm to notify you of battery failure

Limitations

bulletBackup pump has less capacity than the primary pump and may be insufficient
bulletModerate flow even with power
bulletPossible single failure points
bulletPumping capacity could be exceeded by a significant rainfall

Stats

With Utility Power During Power Outage
Pumping Capacity (gpm)1 52 35
Pumping Time at 35 gpm (hours)2 No Limit 7.5

1 Pumping capacity is at the estimated operating point assuming 8 feet of lift is required.  See the Get Technical pages for details.

2 During a typical rainfall, continuous operation at 35 gpm would not be required, so pumping time would be significantly longer.
